A few things I’m grateful for
I’m grateful for so much it’s impossible to even articulate it the way I want too.
Since I know I won’t get around to writing this tomorrow I just wanted to throw out a few things I’m grateful for.
This list isn’t inclusive of everything or anything in particular. Just a few on my mind currently.
This year has been crazy. :) I’ve stared a new business with Cityposh, did Y Combinator again, had to move to California for 3 months and leave behind house and home.
First of all I’m unbelievable grateful I have such an awesome wife. She is supportive in so many ways that it surprises me constantly. She was the one that encouraged another Y Combinator experience to get our second company started. I thought for sure that wouldn’t work with her, but she championed the idea, even though it meant even more work and chores for her at home.
Life is much busier for her than it was 6 years ago when I left then. She went through all sorts of challenges like our basement flooding and all the remediation that it took to clean that mess. And she had to do it 100% on her own.
I’m grateful for my entire family. They’ve all been super supportive. One of the biggest things I’m thankful for is how I can lean on my parents at such short notice. If we need their help taking care of the dog (which always is a pain point in our plans) I can let them know hours before heading over there it seems :) They are also fantastic at including in their lives any people that come into their orbit. Host last years Thanksgiving with mostly inlaws? Perfect. And it was awesome.
I’m super thankful for my awesome business partner, Adam. We’re on the roller coaster of running our own businesses. It’s tough. Always. If it’s not one problem it’s another problem. But Adam helps in so many ways. Ways I can’t even keep track of, because we often handle our own responsibilities without communicating what those are very much. So I know I’m grateful for his help in ways I’m actually quite oblivious too.
I am very thankful for the animals in my life. I resisted getting a cat 11 years ago. Then resisted getting a dog 4 years ago. :) But they are these awesome mascots in my life that provide a ton of companionship. Especially when I work in an office of 1 person (me) on most every single day.
I just had a birthday this month. I am super thankful for the folks that spent it celebrating with me. I have some awesome friends who came down and surprised me doing one of the things I like doing the most, going back to Champaign IL and pretending I live in a college town again.
Alright, back to a little work before the holiday. Have an awesome Thanksgiving and enjoy yourselves!
